António Teixeira Pinto Marques

Born in the North of Portugal in 1945.
A Medical Doctor by profession, he is a keen art collector and music lover. His interest in culture led him, in 1976, to become a Member of Grémio Literário, a leading institution of the literary and cultural scene in Portugal.
Member of the Board of Directors since 2007, he became President in November 2015 following the unexpected death of his predecessor, and was subsequenty confirmed for the same position by unanimous vote in April 2016.
As a surgeon he pioneered the introduction of new mini-invasive thoracic surgery techniques in the country.
He is married to a fellow doctor, Maria Teresa Pinto Marques, and has two adult sons and four grandchildren.
A family man, and much travelled, he succeeds in dividing his time between the pratice of medicine and the Club, a project which he has entusiasticaly embraced. A dynamic course for the Gremio Literario is now on the way, in order to guarantee its stability and the continuity of its cultural and social purposes.
